This short film was originally inspired by my own experience
of the bonds that people and plants share, and the residual energy left between a tree and its planter. It is something that I've experienced in a strong way with my own family.
I hope that my film encourages people to engage with nature more freely and more frequently. To encourage them to notice the small things in nature, which exists even in the urban sprawl of our everyday lives. I wanted to draw attention to the mundane and to the natural world's silent presence. The film tries to promote protection of the world’s environment, starting with the small things in our own yard.
This piece was created for my MA Animation course and took 15 weeks to complete. I hand painted each frame, and it was important to me that the background was just as alive as the characters in it. The fantastic score was commissioned by me after the animation was made.
